FortiMail 900G is an enterprise-grade email security appliance designed for mid to large organisations, education, and government environments that need high throughput, deep threat protection, and resilient hardware. Powered by FortiGuard Labs and integrated with the Fortinet Security Fabric, FortiMail helps prevent, detect, and respond to email-borne threats including spam, phishing, malware, zero-day attacks, impersonation, and Business Email Compromise (BEC).
FortiMail delivers advanced multi-layered security with independently validated effectiveness, including a 99.99% spam catch rate and 100% malware detection. It combines reputation analysis, connection filtering, authentication and recipient verification, plus content inspection (keywords-in-context, image/PDF analysis, embedded URIs) and advanced behaviour and outbreak protection to consistently block unwanted and malicious email.
For stronger defence against targeted attacks, FortiMail 900G supports advanced threat protection capabilities such as Content Disarm & Reconstruction (CDR), cloud sandboxing, sophisticated spoof detection, cousin-domain detection, and URL click protection with link rewriting and re-scanning on access. Integrated Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and encryption features help protect sensitive information and support compliance through TLS, S/MIME, and Identity-Based Encryption (IBE).
FortiMail 900G also supports flexible deployment models to match your environment: Gateway Mode (simple MX record change), Transparent Mode (no MX change), Server Mode (full SMTP server functionality), and optional API-level integration for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace to enable mailbox scanning, internal mail inspection, and post-delivery threat clawback.
Built for scale, FortiMail 900G delivers up to 1.3 million messages/hour for email routing, up to 900,000 messages/hour with FortiGuard Anti-Spam + Virus Outbreak, and up to 650,000 messages/hour with Enterprise ATP. It supports up to 500 protected email domains, includes 16GB RAM, and 2x4TB storage (expandable) with hardware RAID support. For reliability, it includes dual AC power supplies, a 1U rack-mount design, and 4x GE RJ45 ports + 2x GE SFP ports.
